Alicia McLaughlin MacVane
Middleton – Alicia McLaughlin MacVane, died on June 18, 2021 at her daughter’s home after a long illness. She was surrounded by her children.
Alicia was born in Dover, NH on September 28, 1926, daughter of the late Daniel Mc Laughlin and Agnes Mallen McLaughlin. She was the fourth of five children. Alicia grew up in Dover and graduated from Dover High School.
Alicia was predeceased by husband Glenn E. MacVane, daughter Julia MacVane, brother Daniel McLaughlin, brother Cornelius McLaughlin and sister Joanne McLaughlin Paine.
She is survived by her great-granddaughters, Andrea Law and Charlie MacVane; daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and James Buzard; son David MacVane; daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and George Law; grandson, George Law and his wife Amanda; grandson John MacVane and his wife Nicole and a longtime family friend Richard Baldelli. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Jennison and several nieces and nephews.
After her marriage to Glenn, Alicia spent sixteen years as an Army Wife before returning to Dover in 1962. She retired after many years at Dover High School. She loved her job and the many students and school staff she worked with. School mom for many, she always had candy in her pocket to share and hugged those in need. While at Dover High, she was a part of the heart and soul of the school.
Alicia was passionate about golf and appreciated the many relationships she formed at Nippo Lake Golf Club. She bowled at Dover Bowl for many years. Alicia loved the community of Dover and over the years she volunteered for many community services including the American Red Cross, Dover Group Home for Girls, Teen Help Line and served on the planning board.

Visitations will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Wiggin Purdy McCooey Dion Funeral Home, 655 Central Ave, Dover, NH.
The next visit will be a Christian burial mass at 11:00 am in the Assumption Parish at St. Joseph Parish Church, 150 Central Ave., Dover, NH 03820; with interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dover Point Rd, Dover, NH.
