A Parker Building Supplies employee completed a grueling 60+ mile walk along the South Coast, raising over £3,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity.

Stuart Chappell, who works at the Parkers branch in Uckfield, completed the double marathon feat along the South Coast in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

Starting in Folkestone, with an overnight stop in Rye, Chappell’s route took in Hythe, Dungeness and Camber, before climbing (and descending) the hills of Hastings Country Park and along the Coastal Path to Eastbourne .

A seasoned fundraiser, Chappell has already taken on a number of challenges for the Teenage Cancer Trust. As well as a wing walk and rappel down Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower in 2019, he completed a similar hike last year and was named ‘Legend of the Year’ by the Teenage Cancer Trust in 2021.

Chappell said: “I am so grateful to everyone who has sponsored and supported me to raise vital funds for such a worthy cause. I was lucky to be joined by a number of friends along the way, especially on day two when the course took in some tough hills. The best part was completing the final stretch accompanied by my mum, to cross the finish line at Eastbourne Pier.

Allun Pittingale, Managing Director of Parker Building Supplies, said: “Bravo and congratulations to Stuart. He is a true inspiration and we are very proud of what he has accomplished.

Parker Building Supplies’ 19 branches in Sussex and Kent have supported the Teenage Cancer Trust for several years and have raised over £150,000.

Every day, seven people between the ages of 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer. The Teenage Cancer Trust is the UK’s only charity dedicated to providing world-class cancer services and support, so that no young person has to face cancer alone.

Parker Building Supplies is part of the Independent Builders Merchant Group.
