The alert, issued by the Flood Information Service, covers the area from Clacton to St Peters Flat, including the Colne and Blackwater estuaries.
This also covers Mersea and Brightlingsea.
A second alert starts from the Essex coast from St Peters Flat to and including Shoeburyness and the Crouch and Roach estuaries.
This is for the areas around the Maldon Quarter, including the Dengie.

The alert said: “This message was issued because minor flooding on roads and coastal paths is likely between 10:45 am and 2:45 pm on Tuesday January 4th.
“The tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions during the spring tides.
“Clacton Promenade, Lee-over-Sands and the Brightlingsea waterfront can see overflowing waves and spray.
“The Strood at Mersea Island, Coast Road and the front parking lots at West Mersea, as well as Hythe and Promenade at Maldon can be inundated.”
The alert added: “Be careful on roads and coastal paths, and do not put yourself in unnecessary danger.
“We are monitoring the situation and will keep you informed of the risk of flooding.”
