A one-year-old boy tragically drowned after falling into a hot tub, an inquest has heard.
Folkestone baby Jetson Maffia-Kerbey was found face down in the water at a property in Swan Lane, Sellindge, near Ashford.
Maidstone County Hall Coroner’s Court yesterday heard the toddler, who would have turned two next month, slipped in the hot tub.
After being discovered, he was taken out of the tub and placed on the deck, where he spat out water, and the person who retrieved him began CPR.
Paramedics attended and continued chest compressions, but Jetson was tragically pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday, June 12. His cause of death was listed as drowning.
Deputy Coroner Bina Patel opened the inquest and put it on hold to allow evidence to be collected.
Ms Patel added: ‘I would like to convey my deepest condolences to Jetson’s parents, family and friends on this loss in such deeply tragic circumstances.’
Jetson’s cousin, singer-songwriter Lisa Maffia, paid tribute to her “handsome little cousin” on social media.
Posting on Instagram on June 15, the former So Solid Crew member said, “I love you and your mom.
“I’m sorry you left so soon. I know you’re safe in God’s hands.
“Until we meet again, sleep well my boy.
“It wasn’t God’s plan. God is good.”
A family member told KentOnline: “Jetson was and always will be so deeply loved and it was truly awful for the whole family.”
