There are many reasons why you would want to live in Kent.

From rolling hills of lush countryside to scenic coastal beaches, there are so many beautiful places you can call home.

There are also many direct transport links to London throughout the county, making it an attractive place to live for commuters.

However, some parts of Kent are significantly cheaper than others.

One of them is Folkestone, where on August 31 of this year an apartment on Sandgate Road was sold for £ 55,000.

This makes it the cheapest property sold in Kent, while another was sold in the town of Kent for £ 70,000 on July 30.

This one was located in Pleydell Gardens and is also on the list of the cheapest properties for sale in the county.

But what makes properties in Folkestone so cheap compared to the rest of the county?

A spokesperson for Wards Estate Agents said: “The area is lovely because it is located right on the Kent coast.

“Folkestone is quite small, so there isn’t as much going on compared to other towns in Kent.

Margate also owned one of the cheapest properties in Kent

“If you look at house prices in Ashford, for example, they can be quite high due to the quick access to London and you have Folkestone West and Folkestone Central, but it’s not a direct route to London.

“There aren’t many concrete reasons why Folkestone would be cheaper, but the drive to London is definitely a factor.”

One property was sold in Swale on August 18 for £ 68,000 making it the second cheapest in the county, while another was sold in Margate a few weeks earlier for £ 68,500.

Folkestone stations do not have direct connections to London

All of the areas on the list are actually coastal towns, meaning there is a lack of direct transport routes directly to London.

This could make the areas less attractive to commuters, hence why some of the more popular towns are located in the west of the county, where trains to town take less than an hour.
