A care home in Hythe, Hampshire brought the holiday spirit to residents to celebrate the start of summer.
Carpathia Grange from Care UK, on Southampton Road, hosted a home beach ‘day’ to celebrate Go Paddling week, complete with fish and chips, a paddling pool, and of course no seaside trips. would be complete without an ice cream cone.
With vacations abroad being out of the question for most people this year, the members of the house team have been keen to ensure that residents can always enjoy all the pleasures of the sea.
To make the afternoon as authentic as possible, they also took to town to create mini golf and even a game of duck hook for the residents to enjoy.
Angela, an 84-year-old resident, said: “It was a wonderful afternoon just like at the beach. I especially enjoyed the crochet of a duck game.
Pooja Dhoot, Home Manager at Carpathia Grange, said: “With the sun shining and warmer weather finally appearing, many residents were starting to remember their favorite vacations and trips to the beach.
“Here at Carpathia Grange we strive to help residents lead as fulfilling lives as we can, and as beach trips are not currently possible, we have decided that we just need to bring the beach to the residents. in place.
“From wading in the pool to celebrating a hole-in-one, everyone had a fantastic day, and we’re already planning our next surprise.”
