A policeman was hit by a motorcycle this afternoon (December 9).

There is a heavy police presence in the vicinity of the Larkfield Recreation Ground, with residents noticing that a number of emergency vehicles suddenly appear.

A helicopter, believed to be the air ambulance, was seen flying from Larkfield towards Maidstone Hospital.

Speculations and rumors on social media that a police officer was “stabbed” are inaccurate.

However, Kent Police have confirmed that an officer was struck by a motorcycle. Their injuries are not yet known.

A force spokesperson said: “Kent Police were called at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 to report a collision involving a motorcycle and a police officer in New Hythe Lane, Larkfield.

“The motorcycle did not stop following the incident and investigations are underway to locate the driver.”

Officer transported to hospital

A Kent Police spokesperson added: “I can confirm the officer was taken to hospital and the injuries are not life threatening.”

An officer was rushed to hospital following a collision involving a motorcycle near Larkfield Recreation Ground.

The motorcyclist failed to stop and Kent Police are still trying to locate the driver.
