DURHAM – The Dover High School girls’ cross country team saw their top five runners make the top 20 and the result was a victory at the annual Bobcat Invitational on Saturday.
Dover Junio Brooke Marshall completed the 3.1 mile course in 20 minutes and 12 seconds, placing first in the field of 94 people.
Dover won the meeting with a team score of 52 points. Hopkinton (76), Concord (88), Exeter (88) and Oyster River (95) placed second to fifth respectively.
Isabel McIntrye of Dover (21:08) placed 10th, while teammates Ashyln Smith (11th, 21:14), Alyson Bortz (12th, 21:20) and Brianna Haley (18th, 21:49) completed the list of scorers from Dover.
Exeter’s Caitlyn Smith placed fourth overall in 20:35, while teammates Ali McFarland (ninth, 21:02), Meadow Gregory (14th, 21:28), Sydney Lavelle (28th, 23:09 ) and Maddie Welch (33rd, 23:21) all competed.
MacKenize Cook of Oyster River was second overall in 20:15. She was followed by her teammates Haley Kavanagh (5th, 8:42 pm), Erin Carty (22nd, 10:21 pm), Talia Banafato (25th, 10:39 pm) and Denise Nadig (41st, 24h10).
Concord won the boys’ race with 49 points, and was followed in the top five by Oyster River (64), Exeter (113), Sanborn (144) and Dover (155). There were 14 teams in the race.
Chris Jernigan of Oyster River finished ninth overall (17:34) and was followed by his teammates Henry Hagen (12th, 17:51), Amani Harvey (13th, 17:56), Dillon Labonte (14th, 18: 00) and Keane Swiesz (16, 18:09).
Matt Allen of Exeter finished 10th overall in 17:34. His teammates Brennan Gregoire (20th, 6.30pm), Willard Hoffmaster (22nd, 6.33pm), Gavin Malark (29th, 7.02pm) and Spencer Mann (32nd, 7.10pm) made up Exeter’s score five.
For Dover, Tyler Sheedy placed sixth (17:14), followed by teammates Zach Pelletier (15th, 18:02), Jeremiah Payeur (25th, 18:39), George Lawton (46th, 20:16) and Ethan Fiorenza (63rd, 21:18).
