Now that some group events can take place again, riders are setting up their fields and preparing for the Folkestone Coastal 10k on Sunday May 30th.
And it’s not too late to enter!
The 10 kilometer race starts from Folkestone seafront and heads towards Hythe and then back; the flat walking route, with beautiful coastal scenery, is perfect for those who are relatively new to running.
Chip-timed and traffic-free, it’s also a great race for experienced runners looking for a personal best.
As always, the event will support local and international charitable causes and attendees are encouraged to apply for the charity of their choice.
Hundreds of people have already signed up, ranging from older students in local schools to 84 years old. Unfortunately, the children’s race for the under 15s will not take place this year.
However, the race offers a wide range of prizes and the organizers are encouraging corporate teams to participate – it’s a great opportunity to engage with employees and get them involved not only in fitness, but maybe as well. to raise funds.
Race Director Ray Johnson thanked the race sponsors and Folkestone Hythe and the District Council for their support.
“This year’s race is going well with over 450 runners already registered, including several teams on board including SAGA, Church and Dwight, Folkestone College and Livingstone Homes.
“Lots of runners support charities that definitely need all the help they can get. The event itself also supports good local causes, including Rotary clubs that distribute vital funds in the area. “
The start times this year will be between 9am and 10am and runners will be able to choose their preferred time slot; the race will run in accordance with all Covid-19 requirements with updates on the Nice Work website.
