A former SICK police officer repeatedly raped a teenage girl and called her his “slave” after treating her online, a court has heard.

Mark Lindow targeted his victim as “British bobby” on the Kik messaging app before subjecting her to a series of horrific sexual attacks.

On one occasion, the 61-year-old invited a friend to join them at a Travelodge hotel where he then filmed the man also raping the teenager, Maidstone Crown Court said.

Lindow, who served in the Kent forces for 14 years and handled border control at the Channel Tunnel, maintained all sexual activity with the youngster, who he believed to be 18, was consensual.

But he was sentenced today and now faces a long sentence behind bars.

Gruesome details of her ordeal came to light after a member of the public alerted police to a girl walking down the River Medway in Chatham, Kent, in August last year.

She was found in a state of distress and later revealed that the 17th 6ft 2in Lindow had repeatedly abused her and even filmed herself raping her when they first met in person.

The court heard that they initially met on the Kik social media platform on which Lindow used the names “Bobby” and “Britishbobby50”.

The “vulnerable and naive” girl told police that he not only forced her to have sex with him several times, but that he was violent if she refused.

He also called her a “slave” and said he wanted her to tell people that he “owned” her.

Lindow, from Folkestone, Kent, was convicted of five rape offenses, one of making an indecent photo of a child and the other of distributing an indecent photo, all committed between January and August 2020.

He had admitted two other offenses of taking indecent photos of a child before his trial.

His co-defendant Kurt Baker, whom he also met online, was convicted of three counts of rape on August 7 last year.

The 39-year-old, from Gravesend, Kent, was arrested following images of his signature tattoos, taken from the images on Lindow’s phone.

Judge Julian Smith postponed the sentence to a later date, but warned Lindow on his 61st birthday that he risked “a very heavy prison sentence.

He told the two men: “This is a serious offense of the worst kind.

“It has a profound impact on your victim and there is no remorse, no sense of what you have done.

“My concern is not only to impose appropriate punishment for what you have done on a young and obviously very vulnerable person, but to assess the risk you pose in the future.”

Baker was heard threatening Lindow while they were both remanded in custody.

Prosecutor Daniel Stevenson told court at the start of their trial that the offenses were committed against the background of “child sexual exploitation and blackmail”.

He said that although those who blackmailed the girl had not been identified, Lindow knew what was going on and treated the teenager as his sex object.

Lindow, who was not a policeman on duty at the time after leaving the police force in 2015, repeatedly beat her and made her do things “that she didn’t want to do,” said M Stevenson.

She told authorities that she had repeatedly said “no” to Lindow’s demands, but “unfortunately she did not have the capacity to extricate herself from the situation she found herself in”.

“She felt sad because she felt she had no choice,” he added.

“She was worried that he would show her pictures or hit her.”

The girl also told police that her blackmail ordeal, which included threats of rape and even death against her family, began after she shared nude photos of herself online.

She felt sad because she felt she had no choice.

Officials even claimed to have installed an app called Anydesk on his phone so they could hack and control the device remotely.

This led to them obtaining photos of other family members and contacting a relative to say they had nude photos of the victim.

One of the blackmailers also contacted Lindow online about the teenager, the court said.

Mr Stevenson said the pictures and videos found on the complainant’s phone supported her claims that she had been “threatened and humiliated” by the strangers.

A jury heard that his “undoubted vulnerability and naivety” were evident.

Lindow was arrested at work in January this year. His phone was scanned and police found half-naked photos of the victim and three explicit videos stored in a password-protected app called Keepsafe.

Her internet history also revealed research on “schoolgirl fucked by teacher”, “little t * ts video” and “amateur had sex in hotel”.

And his Facebook messaging history showed he bragged about sexually assaulting the hotel girl to a friend.

Lindow told police what happened at the hotel was “a habitual submission-dominant role play”, with Lindow “in control”.

Both men will be sentenced during the two-week period starting November 29.
