ANIMAL MAGIC: A well-deserved trip to Haguelands in Burmarsh

Submitted to the Folkestone Herald

Shepway Rotarians gave a group of young caregivers a fun day out at Romney Marsh.

The Rotary Clubs of Channel, Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh organized the trip for young people who all have a special responsibility to their family members.

The youngsters were joined by Tina and Victoria, from the support organization Imago, and Rotarians from the four clubs during the visit to Haguelands in Burmash, near Hythe.

They enjoyed a splendid encounter with the alpacas followed by a delicious picnic provided by the staff of Alpaca Annie.

After lunch they spent another two exciting hours enjoying a menu of delights and challenges at the nearby Marsh Maize and Fun Yard.

WHEELIE GOOD: having fun on go-karts

Unfortunately the labyrinth was closed, due to the lack of growth due to the absence of rain, but this did not affect the fun of the young overexcited.

Most of them had never seen an alpaca before and were excited to participate in the various fun activities in the yard, often for the first time.

At the end of a busy day, the tired but very happy youngsters were eager to tell their parents, siblings and guardians about their thrilling adventures.

Tina thanked Rotary for organizing the outing and was delighted with the positive feedback from the young caregivers.

A youngster summed up his feelings by saying: ‘I was so worried about coming but I’m so glad I did.
