Sylvester Stallone is set to team up with Taylor Sheridan for a new series that could be one of the coolest shows we’ll get in the next couple of years. It’s going to be a Mafia-related show and given the big names already involved, there’s reason to suspect this one brings in a pretty big fanbase right off the bat. And it looks like they’re adding another name to one of the greatest Mafia (and just regular) shows of all time. According to Deadline, Annabella Sciorra has joined the king of tulsa cast and will join the ranks in what could be a starring role. Compared to his character on The Sopranoswe might get a somewhat different on-screen personality from the actress this time around.
According to this latest casting news, Annabella Sciorra will play the sister of Sylvester Stallone’s character in Tulsa King. The show has the two teamed up again after starring in cop lands together in 1997. In King of Tulsa, Sylvester Stallone plays a high-ranking member of the mob who is released from prison after a long period in jail. When he returns to the streets, he finds he’s been fired from New York and will be running mob operations in Tulsa, Oklahoma. To a wise man, this is considered a considerable reduction. And on the face of it, Stallone’s character has reason to fear he’ll be fired, never to return.
king of tulsa will focus on Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi as he starts from criminal zero in Oklahoma and begins to assemble a new team, one that’s decidedly different from the look of the standard New York mob scene. Joanne de Sciorra, as his sister, will be living in Brooklyn although she and Stallone, at least behaviorally, are there to likely juxtapose the southern Midwestern look we’ll see in Tulsa.
Although she previously worked with Sylvester Stallone, Sciorra is best known for her role as Gloria Trillo in The Sopranos. She was introduced in Season 3 as a patient of Dr. Melfi and a local luxury car sales associate. Trillo’s Tony Soprano and James Gandolfini eventually have an affair, though like most things with characters on this show, things end tragically. Sciorra was fantastic in the genre role, but unbalanced Trillo who both loves and hates Tony.
In King of Tulsa, we could get a new introduction to a bigger world, something Taylor Sheridan has managed to pull off on both the big and small screen. Of course, his series Yellowstone was a massive hit for Paramount, returning Kevin Costner to the limelight as John Dutton, an almost mafia-like presence on the western cattle country scene. Could king of tulsa have a similar piece for Sylvester Stallone here? Sheridan has proven to be one of the best storytellers in the business right now. And it looks good, with a cast as a bonus.
