Flood warnings have been issued along the Kent coast stretching from Ramsgate to Folkestone.

The Environment Agency said people should be prepared for roads near the sea and low-lying areas to flood from midday tomorrow due to strong spring tides and strong winds.

This will affect towns between Ramsgate and Kingsdown and from St Margaret’s to Cliffe to Folkestone and Sandgate along the Tide Stour.

The tides will be at their maximum between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The Environment Agency says it is monitoring the situation closely and that its incident response teams are ready to respond if necessary.

Canterbury City Council also warned that some gates would be closed as a precaution.

He said: “The 1:30 pm tide tomorrow and the 2 am Monday tide will be higher than expected.

“The southerly wind will move north causing a wind wave, so we will close some of our gates.”
