With the sun sizzling and the temperatures rising, it finally feels like summer has arrived. By the end of the week parts of Kent are expected to reach highs just below 30C.

The Met Office even predicts that Friday (June 17) could be the hottest day of the year for some towns in Kent. The previous record of 27.5C was set in mid-May, with some regions now set at temperatures as high as 29C.

Steven Keates of the Met Office said: ‘There haven’t been many exceptionally warm or hot days yet this year, but that should change. We are likely to see a brief spell of warm weather at the end of the coming week. »

The Met Office’s long-range forecast, from Wednesday, currently reads: “Remaining fair and dry throughout, with varying amounts of cloud and some long spells of sunshine. Becoming very warm , or potentially warm by Thursday and Friday.”
