A hyper-realistic cake from Her Majesty The Queen has been served to delighted players at a Buzz Bingo club in Birmingham. The 5ft 3in tall confectionery was created for Buzz Bingo by professional pastry chef and TikTok star Lara Mason to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Taking over five days to build, Queen Elizabeth II’s Victoria Sponge replica shows the 96-year-old monarch wearing a blue sash – symbolizing her role as a member of the Royal Victorian Order – and silver jewellery. Baked with 400 eggs, 20 kg flour and 20 kg butter, the fully edible figurine can serve around 200 people.
Those not in the Birmingham area should not miss the Jubilee celebrations, as Buzz Bingo will be giving all players a free cup of tea and a special Jubilee cupcake when they visit any of the 91 clubs for the Sunday June 5 Main Event bingo afternoon.
Lara, who is Creative Director at Cake Anything, said: “It has been my biggest challenge in my career because the Queen is such a recognized and respected figure – I wanted to do her justice! I loved recreating her likeness from cakes and I’m so thrilled that Buzz Bingo approached me to help celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. It’s amazing to see the reaction of the players.
A Buzz Bingo spokesperson said: “We loved kicking off the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Buzz Bingo Kingsbury Road this week with a life-size Queen cake. Not only was the cake visually impressive, but it was also absolutely delicious. Enjoying a slice of cake and a game of bingo was the quintessentially British way to kick off a very special weekend of celebrations.
