After a two-year absence, the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway will host its Summer Steam event. The party will take place on July 16 and 17.

As part of the celebration, a special schedule will be featured throughout the weekend. The event will see the resident locomotive as well as two visiting steam locomotives starting at 10am.

‘The Bug’ will be visiting from the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway which is the first time it has returned to Cleethorpes since 2008. The second locomotive will be ‘Dougal’ from the Evesham Vale Light Railway on its first visit away from its home line.

At Lakeside Station, there will be plenty to do with miniature traction engines and steam-powered vehicles alongside attractions such as a drive-your-own tram for under-10s and mini-golf (the attractions are subject to availability). The Signal Box Inn will also be open with a range of beers available.

Director Peter Bryant commented: “We are delighted to reintroduce this popular event which will give our visitors even more of the chance to experience the magic of steam travel for themselves. There will be great photo opportunities for families and enthusiasts as the drivers put the locomotives through their paces. We are grateful to our friends at Evesham Vale and Romney who were kind enough to bring their superb locomotives to run on Cleethorpes metals.
All services are bound to be very popular and we encourage those visiting the railway to take advantage of our special daytime tickets which will be ideal for those wishing to take a ride behind the various locomotives.
